“3 Chicks Review Comics is a podcast featuring Kelly Thompson (naturally!), Sue from DC Women Kicking Ass, and Maddy from When Fangirls Attack!.” In the first episode, they review comic like Batman Inc #1, Spider-Girl #1 and a bunch of other stuff.

Boardwalk Empire

Boardwalk Empire is HBO’s latest series and they went all out. Getting Martin Scorsese to direct the pilot (which is estimated at 18 million while the whole production at about $65 million), is in my opinion, a warning to Hollywood. Television definitely seems like it’s the place for more interesting entertainment these days. Creator Terence Winter, whom we all know from the little known series The Sopranos, has another hit.

Boardwalk Empire chronicles the life of Nucky Thompson, the undisputed ruler and “boss” of Atlantic City at the start of prohibition. I’m a sucker for the 1920s and 1930s. The costume design is amazing and the sets feel very real (65 million put to good use) but the key to the show is the brilliant acting, especially from Steve Buscemi and Michael Pitt. I love the history behind the show so if anyone is interested, the show was adapted from a book by Nelson Johnson called Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City.

With 5 episodes left in the first season, Nucky is bound to take us for a ride towards the season finale!
